Perfume oils and attars behave differently than alcohol-based sprays. Because they don't have alcohol to quickly evaporate and push the scent into the air, they require a different application technique to achieve optimal projection and longevity. At Premium Perfume Store, we've spent years mastering the art of applying perfume oils.

1. Apply to Pulse Points

Your pulse points emit body heat, which helps to activate and diffuse the perfume oil throughout the day. The most effective pulse points are:

Wrists: The classic application point. Just remember: dab, don't rub! Rubbing creates friction that can break down the delicate top notes of the fragrance.
Inner Elbows: A warmer spot than the wrists, perfect for extending the life of the scent.
Behind the Ears / Base of the Throat: Excellent for projecting the scent upwards so you and those near you can enjoy it.

2. The "Moisturizer Trick"

Perfume oils bond best with well-hydrated skin. If you have dry skin, the oil will be absorbed quickly, reducing its longevity. Apply an unscented lotion or a light carrier oil (like jojoba oil) to your pulse points right after a shower, then apply your perfume oil over it. This creates a barrier that locks the fragrance in place for hours.

3. Applying to Clothes: Proceed with Caution

Unlike alcohol sprays, pure perfume oils can stain fabrics, especially light-colored clothes. If you want to scent your clothes:

Dab a tiny amount of oil onto your palms.
Rub your palms together quickly to warm and spread the oil.
Lightly brush your palms over your clothes or through your hair.

4. Less is More

Because our premium perfume oils are highly concentrated, you only need a drop or two. Over-applying can overwhelm both you and the people around you. Start small—you can always reapply later!
